Senior Project Manager

GENERAL ROLE OF POSITION:
Plan, budget, direct, coordinate and manage project engineering and construction activities for large scale projects and participate in the conceptual development of projects and oversee its organization, scheduling and implementation.
Initially position will be Houston, Texas based for 1-2 years during the detailed engineering phase, for one or more large expansion projects. However, the candidate will be required to monitor construction and start-up in the field at the Bay City Site.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES:
o Has scope, budget, and schedule responsibility for assigned projects.
o Leads company project team consisting of various discipline engineers and specialists assigned to project.
o Ensures project stakeholder engagement and facilitates project reviews to obtain stakeholder input.
o Coordinates and reviews the work of contract engineering staff.
o Develops specifications for equipment/services, evaluates vendors' bids, selects equipment and approves purchase requisitions for their projects
o Prepares funding requests and provides project cost control and management.
o Reports to management on project expenditures and provides information for economic forecasting and capital planning.
o Monitors and reports progress of projects during engineering and construction.
o Ensures conformance to industry regulations, design and specifications.
o Oversees and assists during commissioning and start-up as required.
o Adhere to budgets and keep projects on track for successful completion within specification.
o Create technical documentation as needed. Ensures update of plant documentation to incorporate project updates.
o Plan and coordinate project schedules, goals and milestones and make project assignments.
o Ensure conformity with safety regulations and promote a culture of best practices.
o Prepare cost proposals and maintain financial records.
o May lead a major project or direct the design on major projects engineered at the plant or at a contractor's office. Provides guidance to less experienced persons in the department.
o Defines scope, estimates costs, and provides engineering design for plant additions and modifications, and coordinates engineering, design and drafting work done by others.
o Assists in maintaining and updating plant standards, and may serve on a company standards committee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
o Ten years project engineering experience is required.
o BS Degree in technical field, preferably mechanical, chemical, or civil engineering.
o Large scale Project Management experience on projects exceeding $10MM in total installed cost.
o Project scheduling, cost estimating, and cost control experience
o Familiarity with gated (front-end-loading) project planning and execution process.
o Effective oral and written communications skills.

Qualifications:
o Proficiency in several Plant Engineering activities.
o Computer use and applications.
o Familiarity with industry codes and standards.
o Estimation experience and use of estimation software.
o Experience leading multi-disciplined project teams.



Project Engineer

GENERAL ROLE OF POSITION:
Provide engineering support on-site for capital projects up to the $5 million range, with the potential opportunity to move into support and management of major projects, both at the local and international levels.
Utilize engineering knowledge for project management; estimate timelines and schedules; anticipate risks and costs related to the technical aspects of the project.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES:
o Plan and organize technical projects from conception to completion.
o Defines scope, estimates costs, and provides detailed engineering design for plant additions and modifications, and coordinates engineering, design and drafting work done by others
o Reviews the work of, and provides guidance for, a contract engineering staff
o Provides technical expertise plus engineering consulting and troubleshooting services to the plant, and reviews project feasibilities and provides innovative uses of technology
o Assists in maintaining and updating plant standards, and may serve on a company standards committee
o Writes specifications for equipment/services, evaluates vendors' bids, selects equipment and approves purchase requisitions for their projects
o Prepares ARs and provides project cost control and management, and reports to management on project expenditures and provides information for economic forecasting and capital planning
o Monitors progress of construction projects in the field, and checks for conformance to design and specifications, assisting in start-up as required

Senior Project Engineering Specialist

Bay City, TX

GENERAL ROLE OF POSITION:
Provides engineering design, costs, plans, and specifications for construction of new facilities and reconditioning or altering of existing systems and equipment. Provides discipline-specific services for the plant, working closely with other departments to define the scope, urgency, and schedule of assigned work. May lead projects or support project manager directing the design on major projects engineered at the plant or at a contractor's office. Provides guidance to less experienced persons in the department.
Initially this position will be Houston, Texas based for 1-2 years during the detailed engineering phase for one or more large expansion projects; however, the candidate will be required to coordinate on-site activities by the engineering contractor or related to early construction. After completion of engineering the position will move to site to monitor construction and start-up in the field at the Bay City Site.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES:
o Defines scope, estimates costs, and provides detailed engineering design for plant additions and modifications, and coordinates engineering, design and drafting work done by others.
o May serve on a major project team supporting the project manager during project design, construction, and commissioning / start-up.
o Coordinates on-site activities of major project engineering or construction contractors.
o Reviews and approves the work of, and provides guidance for, a contract engineering staff.
o Monitors completion of contract engineering deliverables.
o Provides technical expertise plus engineering consulting and troubleshooting services to the plant, and reviews project feasibilities and provides innovative uses of technology.
o Assists in maintaining and updating plant standards, and may serve on a company standards committee.
o Develops specifications for equipment/services, evaluates vendors' bids, selects equipment and approves purchase requisitions for their projects
o Assembles project documentation and ensures that changes are incorporated into technical files in a timely and quality manner. Prepares ARs and provides project cost control and management, and reports to management on project expenditures and provides information for economic forecasting and capital planning
o Assists in change management related to engineering or construction.
o Monitors progress of construction projects in the field, and checks for conformance to design and specifications, assisting in start-up as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
o Ten years project engineering experience is required
o BS Degree in a technical field or candidate must have demonstrated ability to successfully apply technical skills to lead or support major projects.
o Project Engineering experience on projects of greater than $10MM total installed cost.
o Major Project construction experience.
o Design/drafting experience and use of design software - suggest moving to desired, not essential.
o Estimation experience and use of estimation software.
o Project Scheduling experience.
o Effective oral and written communications skills.
o Familiarity with industry codes and standards.

Qualifications:
o Proficiency in Plant Engineering activities.
o Computer use and applications, in particular SAP, MS Project, and Aspen Icarus / Kbase
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
